The young 2-year old that got adopted during over a Zoom call

Have you ever heard about a child getting adopted by the foster family through virtual means? It is unique, but it happened last month. Are you curious to learn more about this adoption? Then, let’s look at the article to learn about the child and her foster family.

The adoption

The coronavirus pandemic even couldn’t stop this beautiful family of Jacksonville from adopting an orphan child. Evan and Cayela, parents of four biological children, adopted another toddler. The couple decided to take up a zoom call to process the adoption of their foster daughter during the coronavirus outbreak.

The toddler, Isla, was just seven days old when she was given to her foster parents. According to Evan, they felt an immediate connection with the child, and they knew that she would be forever with them.

The procedure

The first application for the adoption was submitted in February. But with the spread of coronavirus in Florida, Duval County Courthouse was shut, and the adoption process was on a halt for quite some time. Later after six weeks, the courthouse was resumed, and Isla’s adoption process was right back on track. Isla got adopted on April 30; by this time, she was already in the foster care for 700 days.

The spread of coronavirus was a major challenge for the expectant parents who hope to have a family either through surrogacy, adoption, or foster care. The virtual aid is commonplace for adoption during the ongoing lockdown period. She would feel blessed when she would learn that there was an adoption parade and not just a formal party.

The feeling

The family was thrilled, but they were unsure whether Isla would remember anything about the drive-way parade or not. She was truly loved by all as there were an adoption parade and not just a formal family. Her mother would tell her that she was loved a lot and also that she was adopted during the lockdown period of coronavirus pandemic.

More adoption cases

It is not just the only adoption case that has happened during the lockdown period of 2020:

  • A similar adoption procedure was used by Maria and John Clark of North Boston, New York. They used Skype as the medium for looking at their two young ones – Aurora and Laila.
  • Another case of Chris More and Anthony Lach of Orlando, Florida, held an adoption ceremony over Zoom call for their four-month-old son -Parker.

Winding up

Moodys were overjoyed with the news of the adoption. They wanted to celebrate the news, but social distancing made it impossible for them to host a formal party. Instead, the foster group decorated the car with the balloons to stage up a drive-by parade.
